The Plant Manager manages all aspects of manufacturing for designated location(s) and works closely with the operations team to develop and implement plans in alignment with Company strategy, goals and objectives.  The Plant Manager is responsible for leading all day-to-day manufacturing activity including but not limited to production, operations,  facilities & maintenance, warehouse, planning,  quality & safety compliance and staff development.  This position will lead their team(s) in driving a culture of productivity, quality, safety, continuous improvement, operational efficiency and employee engagement while ensuring customer satisfaction.   Serve as a key liaison to Corporate management team and current or potential customers.  Provide guidance and support to Corporate management on all manufacturing issues. 


  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management to achieve operational goals in manufacturing, maintenance, materials warehousing, employee engagement, cost control, quality assurance, safety & environmental compliance. Coordinate plant activities through the planning with department managers to insure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner. Work closely and integrate manufacturing resources with cross-functional team members in Quality, R&D, Engineering, Distribution and Purchasing groups.
  • In collaboration with Vice President of Manufacturing, develop and implement short and long range manufacturing plans, operational budget for Business Unit(s), policies, programs and objectives by contributing manufacturing information, analysis, and recommendations.  Track actual expenses against budget(s).  Plan headcount, equipment and space needs to support business needs and budget.  Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight, capital and operating expenditures.   
  • Establish standards, performance-based and cost reduction measures that enhance productivity, product quality and customer satisfaction. Ensure that manufacturing key performance indicators support the highest level of customer service and manufacturing efficiency.  Communicate metrics to Department Managers.  Hold Department Managers and teams accountable on conformance to manufacturing plans, meeting established performance metrics and achieving productivity/financial goals.  Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training and development.  Provide leadership for problem resolution to facilitate fast improvements and improved working relationships. 
  • Develop, propose and implement plans for manufacturing infrastructure and capital equipment that support operational objectives, company growth, and strategic initiatives. Coordinate and drive the implementation and integration of lean manufacturing techniques that enhance processes, drive costs & capital improvements and technology advancements. Push for continuous improvement by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes.
  • Work closely with corporate quality team in the development and implementation of quality assurance programs.
  • Manage external transportation companies to support inter-business logistics between the Manufacturing Business Unit and the Regional Distribution Center.
  • Ensure Business Unit(s) meets or exceeds compliance with:
  • Regulatory Compliance with Federal, State and Local agencies including but not limited to: EPA, OSHA, FDA (21CFR) and Sewage Authority;
  • Customer requirements, including facilitation with all customer audits; and
  • Corporate financial reporting requirements.

  • Strong analytical skills, ability to think strategically and influence business decisions using appropriate, fact-based information. 
  • Well-developed strategic planning, business and financial management skills (i.e., forecasting, budget planning, financial analysis, etc.). High level of understanding financial reports. Ability to understand and work with relational databases. Understanding of Sysco’s key business metrics and systems– preferred.
  • A mastery of organizational and project management skills, including the ability to plan, prioritize and execute multiple initiatives/deadlines autonomously and shift priorities as necessary. Able to manage large, complex projects.   Uses time effectively. 
  • Customer Service – Respond promptly to customer needs. Solicit customer feedback to improve service. Respond promptly to requests for service and assistance as needed.

  • Proficient use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook) and scheduling software.
  • Detailed knowledge of ERP and WMS systems.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • 10 years of over-the-counter personal care and/or drug experience
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive manufacturing/operations experience including managing multiple departments and direct reports in a manufacturing environment (Production, Warehousing, Distribution, Planning, Maintenance, etc.).
  • Experience implementing lean principles (TPS, TPM), 5S, Six Sigma and documenting systems and procedures in a dynamic manufacturing environment a plus. 
  • Bachelor degree in Industrial/Production Management or equivalent field of study. Advanced degree a plus.
