As a Supply Chain Planner, you will plan, procure, maintain and distribute inventory of raw materials and components for Gilchrist & Soames.

Position Details

The Supply Chain Planner is responsible for the planning, procurement, control, and distribution of materials and products to meet company objectives and customer requirements. The primary goal is maintaining on time delivery to production and our customers by managing optimal levels of raw materials, components and all purchased inventory.

Responsibilities

Compile/Analyze

  • Analyze inventory of raw materials against present and anticipated production orders and new product launches while achieving and maintaining optimal inventory levels.
  • Prepare, review, and track purchase orders through the purchasing process
  • Assists in evaluating vendor performance and initiating vendor corrective actions, credits and product returns as needed.
  • Analyze, maintain, and fully utilize the MRP/ERP system and all other available tools.

Coordinates/Communicates

  • Coordinates with forecasting, production planning, product development, and other departments to maintain appropriate purchased inventory flow.
  • Works with Master Production Scheduler on understanding production material requirements to ensure the on time delivery of raw materials and components.
  • Works with Sr. Buyer to set up proper parameters of each part number in LX.
  • Communicates with suppliers regarding status of materials and progress of orders

Develop/Maintain

  • Produces reports and statistics using computer-based programs
  • Reviews and recommends disposition of obsolete materials
  • Expedite and push out orders as needed to support changing production and customer demands.
  • Verify purchase order status and trace any delinquent orders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, or in other discipline along with 3 years of materials experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Strong technical proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access and Microsoft Project.
  • Proficient in BPCS/LX (or other similar MRP/ERP purchasing/inventory software).

Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, console, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • This position will primarily work in an office. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • This position may require overtime depending on business needs.
