The Group Leader – Compounding (GLC) is responsible for performing and assisting associates in the performance of the liquid cosmetics blending operations.  The GLC schedules and directs the efforts of the Compounding Department in an effort to meet and/or exceed, productivity, safety, quality, delivery and cost goals and ensure the department operates according to established company policies and procedures.


  • Perform the daily activities of the liquid cosmetics blending operation.
  • Direct, coordinate and monitor the daily activities & performance of Compounding staff to assure compliance of standard procedures, quality and safety.
  • Evaluate & prioritize business demands. Provide & implement strategic plan to meet daily requirements and minimize or eliminate down time. 
  • Monitor work activates for quality and timely completion. 
  • Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide & maintain a safe working environment. Coordinate emergency response or crisis management activities. Coordinate efforts with Safety department to aid in training, conducting associate observations, updating preferred work methods, conducting accident investigations to determine root causes and routine safety inspections.
  • Provide necessary resources to support associates daily activities.
  • Manage the proper selection and utilization of Company assets.
  • Coordinate with other departments as necessary to ensure upgrades and repairs are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Suggest and implement efficiency and process improvements that will increase safety and quality while reducing costs.
  • Manage employee performance through motivation, delegation, development, mentoring and resolving conflict.  Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy.  Consult with Human Resources Department as appropriate. 
  • Conduct regular department or pre-shift meetings to foster employee engagement, communicate any changes to company policies and procedures, address employee concerns, foster idea sharing and suggestions for improvement. Participate in staff selection, performance evaluations, corrective action and terminations, as necessary. 
  • Assure compliance of all company and local, state and federal regulatory agencies’ (i.e., OSHA and FDA) policies and regulations.
  • Confer with other supervisors/mangers to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.   Regularly interact and communicate with various internal departments to provide vital information that may be necessary to meet business demands.
  • Suggest efficiency ideas, cost reduction measures and assist with the implementation of changes within the facility.


Minimum Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.



Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills are necessary to perform at a high degree of proficiency.  Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical manuals & procedures and government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and inter-department staff.
  • Capable of working with peers and associates from other departments in a proactive and constructive manner.  Ability to successfully engage and lead individual and team discussions and meetings.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply & divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to provide effective training to department staff on areas such as SOP’s, Safety, Conduct, etc.
  • Ability to apply all relevant policies in a consistent, timely and objective manner.
  • Planning/Organization – Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities/deadlines and shift priorities as necessary.  Uses time effectively. 
  • Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner. Gathers and analyzes information skillfully. Develops alternative solutions including immediate corrective actions and preventative measures.
  • Judgment – Displays willingness to make decisions. Exhibits sound and accurate judgment. Makes timely decisions.
  • Critical Thinking – Ability to analyze situations in a critical manner presenting proactive ways rather than reactive solutions.
  • Professionalism - Approaches others in a tactful manner. Reacts well under pressure. Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position.  Accepts responsibilities for own actions.  Follows through on commitments.
  • Attendance/Punctuality - Is consistently at work and on time. Arrives at meetings prepared and on time.
  • Proficient use of MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).  Ability to learn and apply Guest Supply technology software and programs.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and lift up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • While this position will primarily work in a manufacturing environment, this position may require travel to attend company events, staff meetings, training sessions & vendor fairs.  May be required to utilize personal vehicle for business travel that may result in long periods of sitting.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • This position may require overtime work on other shifts, evening and/or weekends depending on business needs.
  • This position is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, elevated ambient temperature, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions.
