The Warehouse Clerk performs a variety of warehouse duties relating to shipping and receiving of products and materials as well as preparation and maintenance of related documentation.  The Warehouse Clerk regularly interacts with carriers and truck drivers and assists the Warehouse Supervisor with workforce planning to accomplish daily workload on the dock.


  • Coordinate driver check-in and door allocations for all inbound freight carriers and containers by working with Security to assign doors to each carrier.
  • Create inbound appointments for containers and outbound BOL for any carriers picking up freight. Assist in receiving by checking inbound discrepancy page in Warehouse Management System to make sure product has been properly received in before being posted to the system. If incorrect, contact Receiver to address discrepancy.
  • Responsible for assigning temporary employees to a specific loading/receiving door to unload and assist the Supervisor in maintaining a steady workflow through organizing and assessing the inbound workload on a daily basis. Ensure that all receiving paperwork is correctly organized and ready for the Receiver.
  • Communicate with 2nd shift Supervisor or Lead on any inbound deliveries that will be coming in after the 1st shift. Advise what the Supervisor will expect throughout the shift.
  • Responsible for collecting, maintaining and filing paperwork from the Warehouse:
    • Container Inbound/Outbound Sheet
    • Receiving Work Sheets
    • Forklift Sheets
    • Temp Help Door Assignment Sheets


Minimum Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required


Minimum Experience:

  • 1 year previous experience in a fast paced warehouse environment.
  • Experience in Receiving and Shipping for domestic freight, imports and exports.
  • Forklift certification preferred.

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and professional interactive skills are necessary to perform at a high degree of proficiency.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from suppliers, customers, management and inter-department staff.  Capable of working with internal staff from other departments in a proactive and constructive manner.
  • Customer Service – Respond promptly to requests for service and assistance as needed.  Follow up as needed.
  • Planning / Organization - Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities/deadlines and shift priorities as necessary.  Uses time effectively.

  • MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch while performing job functions.  May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • This position will primarily work in a warehouse environment and may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, cold and elevated ambient temperature and outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is moderate and environment fast paced.
  • Limited travel (<5%) may be required to attend company events, staff meetings, training sessions or customer meetings. 
  • This position may require evening, weekend or other shift work depending on business needs.
