    The Warehouse – Transportation Supervisor is responsible for the planning, scheduling and directing the work efforts of Guest Packaging’s Sayreville Warehouse Department and internal transportation in support of manufacturing production and distribution to meet and/or exceed, productivity, safety, quality, delivery and cost goals, and ensure the departments operates according to established company policies and procedures.

    Responsibilities

    • Direct, coordinate and monitor the daily activities & performance of warehouse workers to assure compliance of standard procedures, quality and safety. Manage employee performance through motivation, delegation, development, mentoring and resolving conflict. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Consult with Human Resources Department as appropriate. Conduct regular department or pre-shift meetings to foster employee engagement, communicate any changes to company policies and procedures, address employee concerns, foster idea sharing and suggestions for improvement. Participate in staff selection, performance and compensation evaluations, corrective action and terminations, as necessary. 
    • Evaluate & prioritize business demands. Provide & implement strategic plan to meet daily requirements and minimize or eliminate down time. Manage labor hours including extra work days and shifts as needed. Manage, assign and monitor all department projects for quality and timely completion. Conduct regular audits to ensure all required inspections and documentation are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Provide driver coverage through outsourced providers for all 3 facilities. Assist with the drivers’ hiring process. Oversee training (including site specific training and general safety), performance including evaluations and disciplinary action recommendations, if appropriate. 
    • Maintain DOT records, including registrations, licenses and permits. 
    • Conduct DriveCam monitoring.
    • Maintain equipment, parts and supplies related to transportation.
    • Maintain housekeeping standards in all 3 facilities yards.
    • Provide back up for Warehouse and Maintenance Supervisors, as needed. 
    • Assist with building security coverage.
    • Manage record retention & retain sample storage and disposal.
    • Maintain warehouse temperature recording device. 
    • Train, test and certify employees/temps on Powered Industrial Truck operation.
    • Provide & maintain a safe working environment. Coordinate emergency response or crisis management activities. Coordinate efforts with Safety department to aid in training, conducting associate observations, updating preferred work methods, conducting accident investigations to determine root causes and routine safety inspections. 
    • Manage departmental expenses. Provide necessary resources to support associates daily activities. Manage the proper selection, purchase and utilization of Company assets. Coordinate with other departments as necessary to ensure upgrades and repairs are completed efficiently and effectively. Suggest and implement process improvements that will increase safety and quality, while reducing costs. 
    • Assure compliance of all company and local, state and federal regulatory agencies’ (i.e., OSHA) policies and regulations.
    • Confer with other supervisors/mangers to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments. Regularly interact and communicate with various internal departments to provide vital information that may be necessary to meet business demands. Suggest efficiency ideas, cost reduction measures and assist with the implementation of changes within the facility.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM EDUCATION, INCLUDING DEGREES & CERTIFICATIONS:

    • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE (YEARS & TYPE OF EXPERIENCE):

    • 3+ years of supervisory experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
    • Transportation experience and CDL Class A with Hazmat endorsement preferred.
    • Experience using Powered Industrial trucks. 

    SKILLS & ABILITIES (TYPE & PROFICIENCY):

    • Knowledge of warehouse procedures and practices; inventory control processes, procedures and practices; and inventoried product line specifications (dimensions, weight, etc.)
    • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and professional interactive skills are necessary to perform at a high degree of proficiency. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively prepare and present reports and information and respond to questions from suppliers, customers, management and inter-department staff. Capable of working with internal staff from other departments in a proactive and constructive manner.
    • Leadership skills – Ability to mentor and develop individuals and teams. Able to engage and lead individual and team discussions and meetings. Understands team dynamics and works well within a team structure. Collaborative management style. Delegates responsibilities effectively.

    • Proficient use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Ability to learn and apply Guest Packaging/Supply technology software and programs.

    • This position will primarily work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment and may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, cold or elevated ambient temperature, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions.
    • The noise level in the work environment is moderate and environment fast paced.
    • Travel may be required to visit other office locations or attend company events, staff meetings or training sessions. May be required to utilize personal vehicle for business travel that may result in long periods of sitting. 
    • Must possess a valid state Driver’s License and provide proof of liability coverage meeting Company standards. 
    • This position may require evening, weekend or other shift work depending on business needs.
