    The Pre-Weigh Supervisor is responsible for the planning, scheduling and directing the work efforts of the Pre-Weigh Department of the Bulk Manufacturing Sayreville Facility in an effort to meet and/or exceed, productivity, safety, quality, delivery and cost goals, and ensure the department operates according to established company policies and procedures. The Pre-Weigh Department is responsible for the maintenance and handling of the chemical raw materials inventory in support of the bar soap and liquid blending operations.

    Responsibilities

    • Direct, coordinate and monitor the daily activities & performance of the Pre-Weigh operation to assure compliance with standard procedures, quality and safety. 
    • Evaluate & prioritize business demands. Provide & implement strategic plan to meet daily requirements and minimize or eliminate down time. 
    • Manage labor hours including extra work as needed.

    • Manage employee performance through motivation, delegation, development, mentoring and resolving conflict. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Participate in staff selection, performance and compensation evaluations, corrective action and terminations, as necessary. Consult with Human Resources Department as appropriate. 
    • Conduct regular department or pre-shift meetings to foster employee engagement, communicate any changes to company policies and procedures, address employee concerns, foster idea sharing and suggestions for improvement. 
    • Conduct regular audits to ensure all required inspections and documentation are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Provide & maintain a safe working environment. Coordinate emergency response or crisis management activities. Coordinate efforts with Safety department to aid in training, conducting associate observations, updating preferred work methods, conducting accident investigations to determine root causes and routine safety inspections. 
    • Provide necessary resources to support associates daily activities. 
    • Conduct cycle counts of chemical inventory and maintain a high standard of inventory control & accuracy.
    • Manage the proper selection, purchase and utilization of Company assets. 
    • Coordinate with other departments as necessary to ensure upgrades and repairs are completed efficiently and effectively. 
    • Suggest and implement process improvements that will increase safety and quality, while reducing costs. 
    • Assure compliance with all company and local, state and federal regulatory agencies’ (i.e., OSHA and FDA) policies and regulations.
    • Coordinate operations and activities within or between departments. 
    • Regularly interact and communicate with various internal departments to provide vital information that may be necessary to meet business demands. 
    • Suggest efficiency ideas, cost reduction measures and assist with the implementation of changes within the facility.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM EDUCATION, INCLUDING DEGREES & CERTIFICATIONS:

    • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE (YEARS & TYPE OF EXPERIENCE):

    • 3 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.

    Minimum Required:

    • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and professional interactive skills are necessary to perform at a high degree of proficiency. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and inter-department staff. Capable of working with peers and associates from other departments in a proactive and constructive manner. Ability to successfully engage and lead individual and team discussions and meetings.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply & divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
    • Ability to develop and lead a team to achieve manufacturing, quality and continuous improvement goals through training, coaching, performance management and effective communications.
    • Ability to provide effective training to department staff on areas such as SOP’s, Safety, Conduct, etc. 
    • Ability to apply all relevant policies in a consistent, timely and objective manner.

    • While this position will primarily work in a manufacturing environment, this position will require travel. There is very limited overnight travel required and specifically pertains to company events, staff meetings, training sessions & vendor fairs. May be required to utilize personal vehicle for business travel that may result in long periods of sitting. 
    • If working remote, must have required software to ensure timely communications. 
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
    • This position may require evening and weekend work depending on business needs.
    • This position is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, elevated ambient temperature, moving, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions.
